The way of knowing how to recognize monocrystalline solar panels is relatively simple. At the visual level we must look at two things:
The shape of the solar cell and the color of the cell. Monocrystalline modules have a black cell (although it is actually a very dark blue), and the edges are trimmed like a chamfer. In the following image we can see the difference we are indicating:
As we said, we can appreciate the visual differences we have discussed about the color and shape of the cell. But this is not the only feature that differentiates the monocrystalline pv panels, below we summarize other characteristics more technical and more important from the point of view of performance.
Monocrystalline solar panels are more efficient than the other types of panels that exist. In the current market, models that are around 17% efficiency are already easily available, and even 20% if we talk about Sanyo technology HIT, which is a special type of cell with part monocrystalline and amorphous part.
In addition to this, they always involve a better use of the available space for the photovoltaic system. This is because they are more efficient, they can generate more energy in less space than if we use another type of panel.
There are also models called “Mono Black”, which come to be standard monocrystalline panels but with black frame. This is an element to take into account for integration issues in buildings, houses, etc … where we want to give priority to aesthetics so that the photovoltaic system does not have a negative impact at a visual level.
By contrast, and to put a negative point, are always somewhat more expensive than the other models available in the market.
Therefore, monocrystalline solar panels are always the best option for a photovoltaic system that wants to obtain the best performance results.
