This plant is in Toyooka city, Hyogo prefecture (Japan) where the authorities are working to reintroduce an endangered stork species to the world.This bird is symbolic of the city’s efforts to harmonize environmental and economic interests. The Kaneka Group is playing its part in such endeavors by offering advanced thin-film silicon photovoltaic modules that can help combat global warming.
Currently, Kaneka can produce over 150 MW/year in their Toyooka Factory. Kaneka next goal is to expand to 1GW/year around 2015. Kaneka have already setup a worldwide supplier network and continue to provide quality products.

Kaneka started work on solar panel in 1980 from the point of view of environmental protection, and viewed Toyooka as ideal for demostrating that people and nature can happily coexist.
In 1999, the Kaneka Group began operating the world´s largest amorphous silicon photovoltaic module plant. The main motivation for choosing Toyooka was the zeal of its goverment and people for returning storks to the wild.
Kaneka believed that solar panel production could help safeguard the environment. Kaneka will supply their products to the world from Toyooka in which wild storks could live.
